"Carlita, Project symbol"
Multimedia product

This product was prepared making use of photography and videos taken and filmed in the intervention field. It shows the evolution process of Carlita, a baby girl, who was born in her mother´s 7 months of pregnancy. She is from Tuco community in Huancavelica. She had a very low weight, when she was born due to fetal undernourishment. When she was 3 months old, she was evaluated and the results said that her level of development was similar to a "not yet born” baby. In that moment she did not even responded like a baby, who was one month old.

Carlita´s mother had a regular participation in the workshops. She was one of the first mothers, who built and implemented the "child’s development space" at home. Through videos we have registered Martina’s performance as mother, in the workshops and in her house. There are also scenes of a visit done to her house and an interview, where she tells the story of her child and her family.

In the last evaluation carried out to Carlita the results show a great progress in her development, her nutrition and health status. In the videos and observations, she is wide-awake, active, clean, content and attentive. Because of her excellent development she has been considered as a child symbol of the “Resourceful Child” project.

"Moments of development"
Cards

The cards called "Moments of development" are working material prepared by the “Resourceful Child” project. They were made with information and pictures of children and mothers collected in the communities of Huancavelica department (considered one of the poorest departments of Peru), where the project is implemented.

These cards are material used in the monitoring and evaluation of the project, as well as in the training work with field professionals, promoters and mothers. These cards are classified in two groups. The first group presents children’s behaviors that reflect their achievement of capacities related with the resourcefulness. It helps field professionals to identify in an objective way children’s body language through indicators such as: concentration, pleasure when learning, good emotional and communicational bond with their mother by a glance. These indicators are linked to variables like curiosity, creativity, self-esteem, autonomy, eagerness for achieving a goal and perseverance.

The second set of cards present pictures of mothers’ attitudes that are typical from traditional Andean up-bringing and other pictures that show the effects of the intervention by mean of indicators such as: better and more interaction and communication between mother and child, a more solid emotional bond between mother and child, and greater enjoyment of mothers during up-bringing activities. ... see cards.
