1) Promotion of capacities
Justification:
Programs and projects of early childhood development tend to orient their activities with emphasis in satisfying the needs of young children, neglecting children’s participation in their own development, thus failing in taking advantage of the enormous potential of their capacities. In this sense it is necessary to center or focus our actions in the promotion of children’s capacities and also in family members’, specially the mothers’. This requires ludic, existential and musical methodology adjusted to the nature of children and members of the rural Andean family. In other words, it should be culturally pertinent.
Actions:
In order to increase the growing and development rates of children, the development of competent axes of the resourcefulness and the improvement of families’ and mothers’ up-bringing practices are necessary:
1. The implementation of sessions with children from 0 to 5 years old in each one of the intervened communities to promote their resourceful potential and other capacities, through activities making use of ludic, existential and musical methodology.
2. The implementation of workshops with mothers and fathers in each one of the intervened communities to promote the good infantile development, up-bringing techniques, creation of environments and spaces for development, to improve practices of nutrition, hygiene, preventive health, good treatment, protection and child security. By doing this, it is aimed that fathers and mothers become "promotional agents of children’s development". |

2) Implementation of development spaces
Justification:
For an optimal development of the child, it is necessary to have adequate spaces that motivate the formation and development of early capacities within an interaction of healthy coexistence with relatives and children that have similar age. In this sense, we understand that development spaces are "physical and socio-cultural surroundings, where a child grows up and develops". The nature and characteristics of these spaces tend to be permanent and stable; therefore they are great influence in children’s development.
This strategy provides children with spaces for their integral development, as well as it involves parents and other community agents to work in a specific, concrete and active way in favor of the early childhood in their communities.
The “Resourceful Child” Project aims to create the following spaces for children’s development with participation of the community: "Children’s Community Hall", "The Child’s Space at Home", "The Rural Patio" and "The Children’s Community”.
Actions:
In order to establish the framework of favorable surrounding for children’s development and their healthy coexistence, it is necessary to carry out the following actions:
1. Sensitization of parents about the importance of having adequate development environments and spaces for their children.
2.To establish general guidelines for the implementation of development environments and spaces, which will be built by the parents.
3. Construction, decoration and management of "The Child’s Space at Home", "The Rural Patio", "Children’s Community Hall" and "The Children’s Community” to be done by parents. |

3) Training
Justification:
It has been verified through the field experience that care, development and promotion of capacities provided to young children, who live in disadvantage situation demands specialized knowledge regarding early childhood development and intercultural intervention. Likewise, it requires assuming a systemic vision that considers biological, psychological, social and cultural aspects. In this sense, it is necessary to carry out training actions for the intervention team about children’s development, methodology, strategies and activities of intervention that allow them to work.
It is also necessary to train the community agents in promotion of capacities, health, nutrition, good treatment, protection and security, and to transfer them knowledge, techniques, as well as, to develop attitudes that allow them to offer an integral attention to children from 0 to 5 years old.
For these training, we have an effective and proven training program, which includes innovating methodologies and didactic resources such as multimedia products and videos. In addition, we provide continuous consultant, field visits with feedback in order to guarantee the quality of the intervention.
Actions:
In order to give sustainability to the proposal of integral promotion of capacities the following actions are carried out:
1. Design and implement training workshops about promotion of the “resourceful childhood” variables, children’s care, development and protection for the intervention team and actors linked to the project.
2. Design and implement training workshops about systematization of experiences and evaluation through images for the intervention team and actors linked to the project.
3. Produce manuals, multimedia CDs, videos and other kind of training material. |

4) Accompanying, monitoring and evaluation
Justification:
Working for childhood development requires lots of knowledge, experience, effort and commitment. The technical team and field professionals demand constant feedback about their work, in other words, to know about the performance and results of their actions, so they can have a clear idea of their task and enough motivation to achieve the objectives of the project. This demand the implementation of a monitoring and evaluation system as well as a continuous support to verify the processes and evaluate the achieved goals in order to make the necessary adjustment, when it is required, and to measure the final impact of the intervention.
Actions:
In order to guarantee the quality control of the Project the following actions are carried out:
1. To design and implement a monitoring and evaluation system.
2. To design instruments to collect information from the field.
3. To organize field visits of the technical team in order to accompany, monitor and evaluate.
4. To organize periodical visits of the field professionals in order to verify and orient the changes experimented by children and their families.
5. To carry out a continuous “on line” and telephonic follow up and monitoring to the field professionals, in which the technical team is in charge.
6. To prepare quarterly, half-yearly, annual and final monitoring and evaluation reports. |

5. Knowledge Management and publications
Justification:
The problematic of children from 0 to 5 years old is a subject that lacks enough information and suitable knowledge in order to develop and propose programs and projects of early childhood development or policies of intervention with quality at local, regional or national level that guarantee an integral development of the youngest citizens of our country.
In this sense, it has been developed a strategy of creation and transmission of knowledge formed by the production of written, sonorous, graphical and audio-visual material that gathers experiences from the field, traditional wisdom and results of the scientific research fruit of the project. Some of the products produced within the project are diverse printed educative materials for field professionals, so they can carry out their intervention activities. Among the mentioned materials are the intervention and nutrition manual and a health prevention guide.
Actions:
In order to guarantee a continuous learning during and after the Project the following actions are carried out:
1. To elaborate intervention manuals that will be used by field professionals.
2. To prepare multimedia products with the information gathered through the systematization of field observations, follow up, monitoring and image evaluation, and spread them out.
3. To prepare a physical and an electronic books and spread them out.
